Where Will You Be Wearing Your Towel?

Dear Diary:

Saturday, May 25th, is Towel Day.  The day marks the annual celebration for the author, Douglas Adams (1952-2001)

Adams was not a prolific writer but produced some interesting reading.  His best known work is  "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", published as a trilogy.  Following this, Adams wrote a short series called, "Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency".  He also wrote three episodes for the television series "Doctor Who".

Adams often inserted comedy and satire into his writings but he was also very serious about environmental issues and encouraged a preservation of the earth.  Being a conservationist, he wrote "Last Chance to See", concerning the extinction of species.

Adams died on May 11, 2001 being only 49 years of age. Two weeks after his death, fans organized a tribute to him, Towel Day, which has been observed every year since then.

How do people celebrate Towel Day?  A complete list of things going on can be found here.

Everyone can pick up their free towel at the Marketplace, thanks to the generosity and creativeness of Uccello Poultry [blog].

So whether you wear it at the Club, at the beach, or on the street, grab one and celebrate in your own way.

Good Night for now.
